I've never liked the Baylor offense. It seems gimmicky speed up and throw it downfield. Also their receivers rarely pan out in the NFL ( Kendall Wright) because they haven't learned precision route running. Everyone raved about the Oregon offense until they met an SEC defense. Seems we need a combination power spread and pro style offense. Stay away from a TX high school offense.

Dude did you see what Deont'a Foreman did in that offense? Now imagine Guice, Fournette or even Darrell Williams in that offense.

The offense is predicated on power run combined with the spread to use the entire length of the field and force the defense into mismatches. There isn't anytning "gimmicky" about it. Their OL was bigger than every one in the SEC IRCC.

They've also put a few WRs in the league. Wright and Williams aren't superstars but they're still in the league. Josh Gordon was one of the best WRs in the NFL until he couldnt get out of his own way. Corey Coleman also looks really good.

The offense was putting up ridiculous numbers with Nick Franklin at QB.

who gives a frick?

Id rather win the SEC with no players going to the NFL than not win the SEC and get to see that fairy Odell have a hissy fit on the sideline and get punched by kicking nets

You not gonna believe this but LSU and Baylor have the same philosophy. Only difference is Baylor does it with 5 lineman and a big arse TE, then hits you with 4/5 Wide with Air Raid concepts

Do you mean offensive as in play calling when we have the ball? Or do you mean "offensive" as in his lack of actions against his delinquent players?

offensive: causing resentful displeasure. repugnant to the moral sense.

The "gimmicky" label gets slapped onto anything that isn't I- formation. One dweeb a few months ago called Georgia Tech's offense gimmicky! No shite.

It's just funny to call the "veer and shoot" gimmicky because it literally uses the same base concepts as any "traditional" power run offense. It's just using the space of the field effectively.

God forbid.

You may not believe this, but 75 percent of Baylor's placalling is run/play action. You can look it up if you don't believe me.

In my opinion, there are many upsides to Art Briles from an innovation standpoint. For instance, he does not use a playbook. He uses an numbering system which allows him to run the offense as fast or as paced as he wishes. He said himself that the only quarterbacks that succeed in his offense are highly intelligent (Hence, Lyndsey Scott). He also has seemed to put up points against teams that have dominated him on the line of scrimmage. Watch Oklahoma last year. Of coarse, one of the biggest things for me with his offense is the fact that he once Seth Russel couldn't play last year he just threw Jarrett Stidham in. And he put up an equal amount of success.

They put up 41 points on one of the best defenses in the country against Michigan State....with Bryce Petty at QB.

Does he run hurry up? I don't like the hurry up except for certain situations.

I'm all for that. I just want to keep the great running attack but also have a great passing attack. Hell I would be happy to run I formation I. 4th are up 40
