DON’T PRESS SEND! But Seriously, a very curious move by them. Herm is like 65 and has never coached at a major program

According to 247Sports' Chris Karpman, the former NFL head coach and long-time ESPN analyst is reportedly expected to be named Arizona State's next head coach.

"Nothing will get done without [school president] Dr. [Michael] Crow signing off on it, but if he does, this is going to happen," a source told Karpman. "[Anderson] has known he's wanted to do this for a while and it's just been about getting everything else lined up."

Edwards, 63, spent eight seasons as an NFL head coach with the New York Jets (2001-05) and Kansas City Chiefs (2006-08), posting a record of 54-74 and reaching the postseason four times. He also spent time as a scout and defensive backs coach with the Chiefs (1990-95) and as a defensive backs coach and assistant head coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1996-00).

Arizona State is much different than an SEC job.

This cannot be real life.

This hire is so fricking bad

Holy shite, I would be rioting if I was a member of that fan base. He's a bad coach, who is old, has no experience in college or with recruiting, and is "old school" in his ways.

I mean, holy shite.

Probably the only candidate willing to go with ASU’s demand of keeping both coordinators

Dude, no way. There are tons of mid-major guys out there that would do that.

Maybe they have an under the table agreement that he is just a stop-gap hire until one of their coordinators is ready to take over?

Wow. That's terrible. How is this better than hiring Sumlin?

All the negative comments and ribbing is fully warranted, but there is no way ASU is finishing 11/12 next year. SR qb, deep recieving core, experience on defense, the team is set up for a great year. Probably why Anderson fired Graham after 7-5 since he knew there'd be no chance he could get away with it next year.

Right I was thinking he same as he coached the UA games for a long time. But that’s pretty much the extent to his recent college ties. I will say that he’s a excellent communicator and will probably win over a lot of parents.

I like the hire. He knows how to coach, win in he NFL, and I believe can recruit. The formula to win.

ASU AD is like family to Edwards. Like borderline nepotism

He was his agent back in the day. Very odd

He has a bad losing record in the nfl and has never recruited in his life.
