You don't think a defensive expert like Saban just hires the waterboy as a figurehead DC do you? Even defensive expert HCs need like-minded DCs to do the heavy lifting on a day-to-day basis while they manage the entire team. Great minds in a football program all add up. The more the better.
Best thing is, someone like Aranda will know exactly who can handle the attention to detail that he demands of himself.

Assistant Coaches are critical because it takes away the amount of work a head coach has to do from a day-to-day basis
I think Aranda has a very strong football mind. I think he has the potential to bring that mind into the head coaching position and be very cognizant about the situations you are put in.

Aranda isn't becoming our HC. I agree he's probably the next great HC but if he is it won't be at Lsu. At this point I'm just hoping we get a few years with him as DC.
