As great a coach as Dave Aranda is, A&M hiring the best coach won't help to coach up inferior talent. Its going to take at least two recruiting cycles to get the beef needed to compete at A&M, by then Aranda will be sniffing an NFL job or a HC gig at a top school.

OC is a much more important hire for A&M.

in a vaccum, that would be true. a&m has plenty to waste so it's not relevant. However, they can certainly get just as much bang for their buck with another coach.

You know him and Jimbo would have recruited the shite out of Texas right?

There are levels to this game. Aranda is a different level.

This would have been sickening. Not that it matters but how highly is Aranda thought of as a recruiter?

Texas is a spread state.

It’s soft.

How many universities in Texas? How many good defenses?

1 maybe. And TCU goes after a lot of Louisiana defenders.

Not necessarily true, see Scott Frost and then Dave Aranda when he was at Wisconsin. Great coaches win everywhere they go with lesser talent. They are great motivators and scheme better than others, taking advantage of opponents weaknesses and creating mismatches to win on each play.
