Dave Aranda seems to be a different breed of coach. While I’d love to have him as our head coach I think he stays at Baylor for a long time.

He seems to be the kind of guy unaffected by more zeros on his paycheck but is more focused on the best environment for his family.

I’d love to have him I’m but not sure the feeling is mutual,

Based on what?

Beautiful city of Waco?
Chip and JoJo?
The fact that they will be a G5 conference when UT and OU leave?
Their 40k seat stadium?

This kind of fantasy-based speculation is embarrassing. You don’t know Dave Aranda. At all. Why would you start yet another thread just to share your fan fiction?

Just my .02 but with Texas and OU leaving the 12 he'd be dumb to leave Baylor when he's about to be the big man on campus

Baylor is about to be left behind in a dying conference. He’d be smart to leave now if he gets the right opportunity.

Also, he showed he cared about zeros a few years ago when A&M came after him as DC. He is going to be a great coach wherever he ends up.

I’d rather be the big man on campus in the SEC when Saban retires.

If the paycheck has enough zeros you can construct your own environment.

You made my point your list didn’t include quality environment to raise his kids, his strong faith and Baylor/Waco more conducive to it.

The argument could be made their “environment” isnt quite so godly given what’s happen their in the past.

That's why he will leave Baylor to go to LSUForever.

You talk about ones and zeros, but in the wrong context. The problem for Baylor and the other leftovers in the B12 is that the schools are about to fall seriously behind in the P5 arms race and could even find themselves slipping to G5 status if more teams leave the conference. They already have a smaller TV deal and once UT and OU leave, it won’t be much better than the AAC’s current contract.

Say what you want, but THAT matters. It affects everything, from recruiting budgets to facilities to NIL reach. You can’t be a consistent big time program with that much of a money disparity. Any coach who wants to win titles is going to either leave that conference or get left behind.

Maybe Dave doesn’t care about that, but most high level coaches do and take opportunities to move up the ladder from a place like Baylor and the gutted B12.

The guy who left Madison, Wisconsin. Small town, quaint, not the top of conference year after year. Yeah, 2.5m at LSU changed his mind. I’d think zeros and top 3 paid in CF would sway the guy.

Wrong. Those leagues have big money TV deals and do offer a direct path to the playoff. The B12 is about to sink to almost G5 levels and would cease to be seen as a P5 league if any more programs leave. They will have as difficult a path to a birth as the PAC12 without OU even if they hold together.

Also, do you really think OSU, Kansas and a couple of others who might have options aren’t looking to bail to the B10 or PAC12? No matter what they say in public today, anyone who has the option to leave the runt of the P5 is taking it. That will become more urgent when the pay cut in their TV deal hits after UT and OU exit. That could be as soon as next year.

You think the B-12 is going to have any respect after OUT leaves? They are going to get dragged down by strength of schedule.
