They just beat a decent Iowa State team, on the road, with backup QB and #1 WR being out. They've had major injury issues all season at QB, OL, and WR.
He turned a shitty ASU program around in two years and led them to the playoffs, where they almost upset Texas. He's young, hungry, and highly regarded as one of the best up and coming coaches in college football. He knows offense as a former rising OC, has SEC experience, good recruiter, energetic personality. He checks all the boxes.
