I mean, we're sitting around arguing about the top 5-7 OCs in the country.

Yeah, but all of them will probably stick around for 3 or more years except Kiffin.

There are a few guys I'd rather over him, but I won't melt if we get him. I'm very happy to see applewhite get that Houston job because I had a bad feeling that we were going to be idiots and hire him.

I don't want him. He's had his most success under Saban and I think he's the kind of guy that needs somebody barking down up his arse every now and then, like Saban.

I'm not too wild about him reuniting with his buddy O and given full control. Everywhere those two have been together they left the program in shambles.

This is a good point.

Kiffin one year is probably better than Applewhite 3 or 4 years.

I, too, am not a fan of the Kiffen to LSU idea. He has a good offensive mind but the dynamic of him working for Orgeron when he used to be O's boss is a recipe for trouble IMO. I would rather see Gilbert or Canada.

I hope this knocks the price down on kiffin. He's clearly on the clearance rack at this point. Dude got passed over by Applewhite lol.

I don't want kiffin. Helfrich is a much better coach

I don't want Kiffin. He's only here 1 year tops. LSU is a work in progress changing to a spread (supposedly) and I would like to see an OC that would stay at least 3 like Aranda. It's going to be hard to recruit with Kiffin.

He wouldn't be a terrible hire by any means, but there are definitely concerns. There's a reason Saban is always bitching at him. I think his playcalling is suspect. But if we have Aranda's defense and a capable QB, things should be way better than they have been here for years. Personally, I was more excited about Helfrich.

But, how long would he even stay here?

If he's successful at turning LSU's offense around...a year, maybe 2. But same goes for most coordinators. Coordinators who have success at big programs end up getting HC offers at G5 or lower-P5 schools...which is why its important to hire a HC who has a specialty, whether on offense or defense, instead of a HC who has no specialty and is entirely dependent on having the best coordinators. Realistically, Aranda is only here another year or 2 before he starts getting HC offers elsewhere.

Nah. He or Briles would be perfectly fine. The only reason most of us wanting Kiffin so emphatically was just to shut y'all up saying no way it could happen.

Y'all don't have to come to an LSU site and be so damn obnoxious. It's not like we came to your board talking shite. Seriously, there are other forums to discuss your program where people really give a shite. I think it's called bama online or something like that. If y'all want to hang out here then quit getting so riled up about LSU fans talking hopefully about something good happening for our program.

Enough already

A short-timer like Kiffin is the last thing Coach O needs. You're trying to build a stable organization, why would you want someone that obviously is looking for the next move very soon?

Really doesn't make any sense. These are the types of decisions a HC makes when they aren't thinking long term. It's like he thinks he has to make a splash immediately, future consequences be damned.
