What Alleva thought was best was to make a phone call to a previous offensive coordinator and then make one offer to one other coach and give up midway through negotiations?

Coach O isn't going anyway. Bring in a bunch of candidates, interview them, have an actual coaching search, etc....
You don't just offer one guy off the cuff and then quit negotiating because it's hard.

He did the job pretty well after being given the responsibility before October. People act like O didn't do a good job. The difference between the Wisconsin game and how we looked on the road against Arky and aTm is off the charts. He proved that he is a competent coach

Herman is a proven failure this year FWIW. Weren't they supposed to go undefeated and be in the playoff conversation? Sounds like he came up way short with a 9-3 record.
Oh, he was distracted by LSU/Texas talk and couldn't get his players focused? Shame on him then.

I'm not exactly pro O, but I'm enjoying the melt. He was night and day compared to Miles and he's going to recruit like hell. Miles gets fired, LSU sets offensive records and dominates teams Les would have lost to. If he fails, he won't leave an empty cupboard. With Alleva at the top, you should have known this was going to happen.

What about Fleck, MacIntyre, Fedora, Taggart, et al that have actual winning records? Who stepped into way shittier programs and created diamonds from turds?
I'm not saying they would win a National Title here. We can't say that about anybody, but holy shite, Coach fricking O?

Alleva did what alleva wanted. Alleva wanted O but had to appease the boosters by going to jimbo and Herman. Firing a coach mid season and only looking at two coach then picking your interm coach shows Alleva was never really serious with making LSU Great again( see what I did there).
