Aranda losing to a 3-5 football team with no coach

To be fair, TCU-Baylor is a pretty heated rivalry, and Jerry Kill is pretty good interim to have in place for Gary.

Tucker's defense today looks as bad as the stats say it is.

And for the record I want a coach that has a long proven track record and and good winning percentage. That’s not Mel. If other coaches had a 15-12 record their names wouldn’t even be mentioned and you know it

Exactly. All of this. I just don't understand the passion some go to defend a guy like Tucker this early in his career. It's unbelievable to me.

I remember years ago when people were going through the yearly Raymond may leave talk and Tucker was brought up as a potential DB coach. I remember several of us being very meh about the idea. Some people like Nick Dias think we never heard of Tucker before.

If a coach has a more proven resume then of course they can afford losses differently. Just my opinion. I have been wanting to see how Tucker finishes the season. I thought for sure they would lose to Michigan, but clearly I forgot Harbaugh can't beat ranked opponents on the road. I would rather see a guy like Tucker have a couple of more seasons before considering.

You mean like Saban had prior to us hiring him? I’m not saying I want Tucker either. I’m just pointing out that even if he had a great record, there would be just as many fans STILL against hiring him for the very OPPOSITE reason you are saying he’s on the list now.

Despite popular belief this country is not out to get black people, I’m not racist and can look past color and only focus on resume, it’s sad that you can’t do the same. And if you think our program is at the same low level it was when we hired Saban then you ain’t a Tiger fan. Tucker is supposed to be a defensive minded coach and his D is awful. You can’t name one thing you like about Tucker, which is sad. Do better J.

And Purdue from all accounts can't even run the ball.

It’s hard to read these threads … if Aranda or tucker wins there supporters come out all excited and say that’s why we need him here … if they lose then game to game doesn’t matter they say

You get Mike Tomlin to Baton Rouge then I’m jumping for joy, an incredible football coach and an even better person.

I am so sick of this shite comparing him to Saban.

LOOK AT SABAN'S FIRST SEASON COACHING COLLEGE FOOTBALL.

AT TOLEDO. HE WAS 9-2.

What was Tucker's first season?

Colorado 5-7.

Okay so right away Saban showed he was a winner. At a different school prior than Mich St. Okay?

Okay.

Now.

Tucker in 2 years at Michigan St is 10-5. About to be 10-6. Keep in mind his 1st season was a shortened season.

Nick Saban was at Michigan St for 5 years. Okay?

Never had a losing season in those 5 years. He was 34-24-1 at Michigan St.

Okay?

So let's combine

Saban 43-26-1 in 6 full college coaching seasons.

Tucker 15-13 in not even 3 seasons. More like 1 full season, 1 shortened season, and 1 season yet to finish.

How the frick is that comparable to Nick Saban?

There are many clowns on this board absolutely convinced Bill Tate is going to force a minority hire and were anti-Tucker from the start, despite zero evidence to support. That’s a fact.

Tucker is an interesting candidate with a solid resume and pedigree. Anyone who wavers from that either negatively or positively has an agenda. He’s not a perfect candidate and comes with risk. He’s also not been given the time of day by a select segment of this board. All is true.

FWIW, Toledo was a 6-5 team Saban took over and immediately turned into a 9-2 (7-1 in conference)

Okay? Stop comparing this guy to fricking Saban. It's insulting.

Guess Fickell needs to be nixed too since they are barely beating Tulsa.

Nope, stop. Facts aren’t allowed when referring to Mel Tucker. We don’t want him because we’re super racist.

Solid resume seems subjective.

And there are people who go to great depths to defend him solely because of one reason. He wouldn't even be a consideration. They beat one team with a winning record who is known the shite the bed. One team. And then they want to compare his resume to Saban? In no way is it comparable to what Saban had shown prior to LSU hiring him.

It's just frustrating all around. LSU should not have to be in the position to take such a gamble.

I would gladly take Tucker over the idea of Bill O'Brien. I just don't trust his defensive stats and I am concerned about his ability to bring in top QBs. I will agree he absolutely worked the portal this year.

Disagree. Based on where he’s coached, who he has coached under, and positions he’s held, I think it’s solid. Not spectacular but solid.

He’s not Saban or whatever people have said.
