Just brainstorming ideas and was curious of the rants opinion of this “hypothetical staff”

You go raid Louisville and hire Ron English and Mark Hagen as Co-DC’s

Hagen is your defensive line coach as well

English is your safety’s coach as well

Hire your choice of Raymond or Chevis Jackson as cornerbacks coach

Throw the bag at Kelvin Sheppard to pry him from Detroit to coach linebackers

Both English and Hagen followed Jeff Brohm from Purdue.

This year Louisville ranked:
16th in total defense
6th in 3rd down defense
37th in Pass defense
12th in rush defense
1st in red zone defense
20th in scoring defense
25th in Sacks
26th in tackles for loss
25th in interceptions

Why would an NFL linebackers coach leave for a college job?

I would assume it’s personal preference (does he enjoy recruiting)

Some of the OP’s ideas make sense.

But my overall question would be: shouldn’t the new defensive coordinator have some (if not a lot of input) into who will become the other members of the defensive coaching staff?

Could probably make more as a college DC than a NFL LBer coach.

But if they dont like to recruit, then its a waste of time.

If only there was an example of someone who did… someone very close to home.

Ed Reed has been publicy begging for a job for over 12 years. I wonder if poor Ed wonders why his name never comes up for certain positions?

Ed Reed made a pro-bowl in 2011, and retired after the 2013 season. Maybe you didn't see him on the field because all black people look the same to you?

10 years ( not 12 that changes things ), but Reed has been discussing coaching before he retired . Hes been publicly pleading for a coaching jobs for over a decade . He's still tweeting certain schools begging for a Coaching job. LSU could use a great mind like Ed & local legend as db Coach.

Reed probably wonders why his name only seriously comes up at certain schools besides his " Chief of
Staff" ( wink wink ) position at the U.

Ed Reed has been discussing coaching back in his playing days. Old Suge has job , Ed Reed is still begging & I only wonder if he recognizes that only certain schools have even taken him seriously.

Winless FCS bottom feeder Northwestern( La) who cancelled their season after a player was murdered would have been a great spot for Ed. Never heard his name seriously mentioned, but........

Yes, High profile universities are afraid to hire black people.

Youre so brilliant.

Ed reed could get a coaching job tommorow if he wanted it with the career and connections he’s had

Will it be a P5 position role or coordinator immediately? Of course not bc that’s not how it works. But with a couple years starting at the ground level (analyst, GA, etc) he could easily be coaching whatever level he wanted to

Yet he's still unemployed outside of his former " Chief of Staff " job at the the " U". Sanders in Boulder , who got his only chance through an HBCU( proving he can lure young Black recruits) , is his most promising chance . The" U " was a nothing program getting smacked around by FAMU , but certain black athletes conditioned to think a certain way turned Miami into a p5 school nearly overnight.

Now "U" are looking for serious jobs outside of position coach & "good recruiter".
