You see some of this in the NFL over time in a shorter period of time. Guys who can adjust to other people's adjustments and still succeed are the ones who are franchise changing coaches. People who don't know what to do when other teams take away their preferred options are exposed.
Right now, we have this incredibly short window of games to look at. And people are going fricking nuts because Orgeron has blown out some bad teams and is in touch with the message board and radio show call in complaints. It is great that we beat bad teams but we put up over 40 points on bad teams last year as well (9/19/2015 Auburn (7-6) 45 points ; 10/3/2015 Eastern Michigan (1-11) 44 points; 10/24/2015 Western Kentucky (12-2) 48 points; 12/29/2015 Texas Tech (7-6) 56 points). None of that meant very much last year, don't forget how optimistic many LSU fans were going into the Bama game last year.
RE: appealing to message board and radio show talking points? That's clever of him if he wants to lobby for the job that would pay him millions of dollars. But it is kind of a bad sign in the sense it is not something you see elite coaches worry about. Those guys let their results dictate fan satisfaction.

I disagree on Venebles, I think he is a very good DC, but I put him in there with Muschamp and Smart.. just that... DC's
Aranda seems very detail oriented, very diciplined, but smart enough to see the big picture. I think he will be an outstanding head coach.. but he doesnt have the resume yet to warrant the job, but if I had to take a huge chance on anyone in the country it would be him..

Couldn't agree more with those comments!
A thorough search should be performed but that also includes your backyard!
I have always like Coach O and wanted him to be part of the LSU staff but I never considered him being the HC of LSU. That being said this search is so important we can't screw it up if we want to continue to be relevant in the college football landscape. And to disregard a candidate like Coach O with how well he recruits especially in the southeast because of his coaching stop at Ole Piss 10 years ago and not consider what he has done at USC and LSU so far is a mistake. I am not saying he should be anointed the HC, he has an extended opportunity to prove who he is as a HC how he has changed since Ole Piss and we as alumni, fans, students etc.... should allow him to do so with the least amount of interference as possible.

Well, the next saban has to be able to recruit like saban. I have only seen a couple of guys recruit like him and they no longer coaching college ball. (Jimmy Johnson, Pete Carol, Butch Davis)
Aranda may be a fine d.c., he may be a fine h.c., however, the unknown is his ability to sell players to play for him. (recruit) I didn't see Wisconsin bringing in top athlete from all over the country on his side of the ball. I'm not saying he can't, I just see no evidence of it to date. With that said, he built a fantastic defense there.
I think the next saban will be a lot like saban. A guy who's been through the college scene and Pro scene, has connections and resources to sell the n.f.l. future to high school kids. Someone who has been exposed to the psychological aspect, the wellness aspect, and preparation aspect for athletes.
I think we have seen the next saban, It was Pete Carol. I don't think the next saban is going to come strictly from a college background. You have to be exposed to the highest level where the most technical resources are used to prepare the athlete not only for the game, but their body recovery, their psyche, injury prevention, practice habits, pace, trends, academic assistance, nutrition etc.
What makes him the best are all these things. he's the best recruiter, his team doesn't suffer a lot injuries (uses karate, knee braces in practice, will give the guys a day off after three weeks, will practice in morning or night depending what gives the body the longest period to recover), he uses sports psychologist for the mental part of the game.
so to say this guy is the next saban, that's a huge statement.

You are a 100% correct, but like every job you are looking for the best fit for success. With a HC since they are CEO of that division you have to make sure that CEO is the best fit for all the area's not just the X's and O's.

i dont disagree with any of this.. I would say Aranda hasnt had his shot at recruiting just yet.. its coming.. as far as everything else, he seems to me to be the type of guy that would do those things.. I think he is razor sharp and a quick thinker and is very diciplined.. He seems to be a shrewed tactician to me..

He supposedly convinced our JRs to return this year. Beckwith and Tre White have spoken highly of him in regards to why they decided to skip the draft.

Honestly I'm always skeptical of crediting the interim coach for a team's successes or failures. How much do you really think he's changed the team from Miles in a month?
