See, you just said it yourself, Hermans agent leaked it to the booster. Everyone and their mom new LSU was talking to Herman, what they didn't know is how close they were to a deal and that could only be known from Hermans agent leaking it to said booster.

The booster leaked the info to the press obviously. The agent was just filling him in. The leaking to the public stuff didn't need to happen for Hermans agent to get more money from Texas.

It was required to create a sense of urgency - and with urgency comes desperation.
The information was leaked with the ultimate purpose of bringing Texas into the mix with a massive offer. They were clearly screwing around and unsure of what to do.

He could have told the booster that it's done and the booster took it upon himself to leak it so Texas would have to make a play at him (something they were obviously not going to do).
Not that I believe Herman wants any part of that putrid shite show that is Texas football anyway. All the boosters think they are all that matters and full of themselves. Nobody wants to deal with their bullshite.
