I'm just saying because we are in for MUCH bigger changes than this.

Probably eliminations of large plot points, beefed up roles for characters like Logain (this is confirmed), combining multiple characters into one role, shifting things from different books together or changing the timeline, etc etc.

I know we're a long ways away, but I'll go on record now that if they frick up Androl I will be pissed.

It is highly, highly unlikely he will even exist. He was purely a creation of Sanderson with no basis in any RJ notes or anything else, because he couldn't get a feel for Logain and wanted to create "some new magic" with a new character.

Its likely someone like Logain will just take on that role.

I agree. My understanding is Androl was Sanderson's opportunity to make at least a small part of the story his own. He was extremely well developed, and his magical skill set was important in how the last battle played out, though anyone who ever played the videogame Portal knows that there were many overlooked opportunities to take advantage of that skill. His interaction with Pevara in the final couple of books was beautifully done, showing the sea change that would be expected in the future as the stigma of male channeling fell away.

The resolution of the black tower difficulties can definitely be done with logain and a host of unnamed lackeys

Loggains beefed up role is going to be awesome.

SPOILERS BELOW

Thought he was chosen one spurred on by corrupt aes sedai / world ruling magic organization, captured, freed, helps take down same organization, becomes the most important disciple of the chosen one, now has to lead a fight against the corrupt half of the new big magic organization into final battle.

Getting more pov and insight into this story arc is going to be great.

I kind of feel like Jordan didnt know what he was working with in terms of logain at the beginning, how great of a story he created.

The world is so big there are several very interesting characters and substorys that we didnt have time to get in to.

Showrunner answering a lot of questions in his instagram story. Most of his answers seem very reassuring

Are they delaying shooting or anything due to the corona virus? Looking forward to the show about a quarter way through Winters Heart right now. Path of Daggers was surprisingly good.

Path of Daggers was good, Winters Heart is meh but had some good parts at the end. Crossroads of twilight was rough, just not much happens in the book, lot of set up, but then knife of dreams is good.

He said that they were slowed down but have been able to do work, visual effects, etc. so it isn't a total standstill but I'm sure it will push release date back.

Yes, they are shut down. They had the last two episodes left to film. They are however working on the first 6 in terms of editing and visual FX, and working on writing out season 2 a bit.

They will have to go back this summer when its over and film the last two episodes. Likely means coming out at the end of 2020 is a dream and it'll be 2021 at best.

Yes, very.

Seems to indicate at the very least that Min is in Season 1, and possibly Elayne as well, we just haven't seen the casting yet.

Some other pretty reassuring answers that he "gets it".

Not sure if this was common knowledge, but one of the companies working on VFX for the show also is working on/worked on Black Widow, Mulan, No Time to Die, and Venom 2.

So pretty big work, VFX should not be a problem.

Holy shite y’all weren’t lying about Crossroads of Twilight. It took over halfway through for something interesting to happen. Looks like Wheel of time on prime twitter is starting a reread for fans to discuss each Wednesday. Next Wednesday doing eye of the world prologue and chapters 1-2. Not sure if it will be spoiler free or not so I’ll be checking in but wary of spoilers.

I took a pause after Book 11, going to read the final 3 as one long book here soon.

But yes, Book 10 is terrible structure more than it is overtly terrible writing.

I was listening to Sanderson discuss his work on Wheel of Time and he said that they he originally tried to do Gathering Storm / Towers of Midnight as one book and when they decided they had to split him up, the publisher originally was going to do it just in half but he went back and revised / separated them into two separate books by picking out chapters and POV and reworking some things.

I think I remember him saying that this is why Book 10 was so bad. They did the same thing to make it two books but instead just split it in half which explains a lot I think. I could have heard it wrong though

Crossroads is just awful stuff. I remember waiting a few years between books and getting CoT and thinking WHAT IN THE frick IS THIS.

Its clear that Jordan had tied himself into a knot trying to figure out how to put the characters into their end game. He really figured it out big time in the next book, sadly he passed right after.

I'm not looking forward to it. I'm past the middle of Lord of Chaos now and I still love it. I don't know how he manages to fumble it because it's still quite good.

Ya well Shadow Rising up through book 7 or so is just an incredible stretch in fantasy, so you are right in the middle of most people's favorite part.

Outside of books 9 and 10, the rest of the books are really all pretty good to exceptional, including the final 3 by Sanderson so 12 / 14 is a solid average for the series as a whole.

I don't know if its 100% true but it seemed in one of Sanderson's interviews he mentioned that Books 10 and 11 were written as a single volume - and they needed to split it in half to publish the books. So they just split the book in half chapter wise and so you end up with Book 10 as pure set up and Book 11 as the turn to the end, which kind of makes sense.

I think the other aspect that comes into play here is that Jordan was writing the series essentially following the main characters every day from when Moiraine comes to Emond's Field up through the ending. So he doesn't really have very much "7 months later" type techniques to pass time where the characters get help up and are struggling to complete their task. This sort of aspect comes to a head in books 9 and 10 - although the back end part of 9 is still pretty good it is the only other one I felt was below the Wheel of Time standard.

Many people consider the ending of Lord of Chaos to be perhaps the high point of the entire series.

Book 7 I greatly enjoy as well.

Books 8-10 see a decline because he really did not know what to do.

11 is a true return to form, and Sanderson does a great job of ending the series with the last 3 books, even if he really struggles (and he admits that) with certain characters like Mat, who he didn't have a clue how to write.

Book 7 is great and I thought 8 was still pretty strong, Rand's storyline was great and very important to the overall story IMO.

Won't say much more to avoid spoilers but the really bad parts of the storyline didn't really come into play until Winter's Heart IMO.

Ya but he was able to figure Mat out about halfway through - he said he didn't have enough beta readers for Gathering Storm. So he didn't really understand where he missed on Mat until after his first book was out.

ETA:

This is the interview I think where I heard Sanderson talk about that stuff - i went down a rabbit hole looking for other interviews after watching this so I could be wrong. Spoilers for anyone who hasn't finished the series.

What network is producing this series? Is it just as epic and engrossing as ASOIAF? (I'm not familiar with this book series)
