I'm impressed with the marketing blitz that Amazon is doing. Worldwide marketing blitz with subway trains being wrapped entirely in promos, viewing parties, billboards everywhere, ads during big events.
They are really really banking on this being a hit.

I think Berelain could be a solid side character, she could certainly be cut but I like where she fits in the story, trying to protect her small kindgom and develops an interesting relationship with rhuarc.
I'm being more and more convinced that Morgase is out or just will be a minor footnote before being killed - either by a foresaken or immediately by Valda. Would free up tons of screen time for more interesting stories.
With Valda's expansion and clearly being shown how evil his is from the beginning, none of that story arch is really necessary.

Its interesting because I'm thinking it will do really well internationally and could be a massive success even if it doesn't catch on in the United States to a GoT level.

This is by design. There was mention of this in the GQ article that they wanted an international hit.
Looks like it is tracking to do really well in India and Europe.

I love it, I think as a byproduct that they looked more at international / diverse castings and bringing in cultural inspiration from all over the world - which in turn will hopefully give the show a more true to the book world feel given what we know about the backstory and how the 3rd age came about.
The music will definitely have a very worldly feel to it that I think will be interesting and different.

Basically the gist of it was that they knew that they were making a huge monetary investment for a property that while it had a huge niche following, is not widely known to general audiences.
So they wanted some international ratings for insurance.
It definitely affected the casting choices. Apparently the Indian (?) actress they cast for Alanna is well known there, and of course Alvaro Morte in Spain/Europe.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that expensive productions like this simply must appeal to widest possible audience, meaning storylines must be streamlined and casting decisions won’t faithfully follow the books. It’s always been this way and it’s just something book readers will have to either accept or not watch. As long as the show gets most things right and doesn’t become an unrecognizable piece of shite like Dark Tower.

Ya, but I think it affected it in a good way. With the background and history of Wheel of Time, its focus on widespread cultures, I think it helps bring the right feel to the show.

A couple of comments, then a question for any who might know...
1) Rewatching the trailer, the United Nations style casting stands out more than I thought it would, but in a good way. Rand really does stand out amongst the others which he should, so in a weird way it works very well.
2) Just realized the guy playing Logain was The Professor from the netflix show Money Heist. Love that guy.
Question: Since they cast Min but not Elayne, are we to presume they are increasing Min's role from the book? Like I cannot imagine casting Min just for her brief book scene, seems like they could have just waited and introduced all 3 of Min, Elayne, Aviendha next season. So I wonder what they are adding for her.

None of us know the answer to #3, but just a theory...
I think they want to establish each of his love interests i over time, and Min's viewings are really important.
Early on, and this is SPOILERS for the show:
Rand and Egwene are actual lovers and "together" unlike the juvenile relationship in the books. Personally, I love this. It makes their separate journeys and ending more interesting to me.
END SHOW SPOILERS
I think they want Rand's relationships to be a bit more organic. So they establish a connection with Min and her important viewings towards the end of S1, they establish a connection with Elayne towards the end of S2, Aviendha in S3, complicated it all in S4, etc.

This all makes sense I guess, but are they really gonna wait til season 3 for the polyamory aspect of the relationship? Would seem the people in charge would want to showcase that aspect much sooner but maybe they will pick others for the time being.

I don’t see how they could do it logistically.
Rand cannot realistically meet Aviendha until the end of next season at the Stone if they combine Books 2-3 plot lines. And they would have to establish a Elayne romance at the same moment.
Elayne wouldn’t realistically go to the Waste if they keep that in plot line in S3. So I see S4 as the earliest but also, things will obviously be changed a good deal.

Min isn't appearing until the final 2 episodes of Season 1

Would be good regarding ALL the relationships not just rand’s. The Rand-Avienda relationship is the only one that is even somewhat developed. The others…boom! now we’re madly in love.

Disagree a bit here. Rand/Min is pretty developed from the Rand side at least. A bit cliche maybe, but they do the whole "see her as a friend not a love interest" for a while before they hook up.
As for Min, she clearly has seen herself falling for Rand so thats why its not so much developed from her end. Plus the lack of POV.
Rand/Elayne definitely the weakest, as we get the lame meet cute followed by instalove.

I've been thinking about how they combine seasons and I'm not really sure if Rand / Elayne is really a thing - or even if they meet each other more than once. I can see a way to do it where she only sees him for the first time in Tear as she isn't in Season 1 and Rand may not be in Falme if they choose to do Book 2 and 3 ending concurrently - we could have Rand separate and go to Tear while Perrin / Mat / the girls do their parts of the Book 2 ending in Falme.
From how I picture it, I see it as min / rand and then Aviendha as normal - actually that doesn't work if Rand is still gonna try and friend zone min. I think they may change it, where Rand and Min have a brief thing, then the aviendha thing is her watching him for Min and then Rand's hesitation towrds Min is just the whole "can't let he watch me die" or whatever they want to pull for half a season. Then Elayne / Avi becomes a thing during the course of Bowl of the Winds plotline and Caemlyn.
That's all probably fanfiction but the above could work to change it up a bit.

Seeing lots of youtube interviews and stories from real media pop up today (not youtubers)

io9: What are some ways that you’ll be doing that on the show?
Judkins: I think—well, I can’t tell you all of them, but in the books, there’s an idea that if you’re born as a man in one life, you’d be born as a man in the next life in the show. We’re not doing that. We’re approaching it as you are a soul and you move through different bodies through whatever life that you’re in. So that’s one. It’s a very fundamental change actually to make to the book series, and it has a lot of ripple effects, and we’ll continue to do things like that I think are more reflective of what hopefully Robert Jordan would be writing if he was writing today.
This triggers me to a great degree

If they want to say Dragon can and has been a woman before, I don't really care. But if those flutters he mentions become a driving narrative factor in some way outside of just having some trans characters here and there it will be annoying.
