His books were not groundbreaking literature and his ending generally sucked.
But they were readable, well written and had pretty good character development.
Some of the recent stuff is just bad and the newest release, Camino Winds is utter crap.

I find it hard to believe he’s even writing this drivel.

I still get mad thinking about The Partner and the girl taking the money and running on the last page.

Easy money knowing he can put out fluff and people will still flock to it bc Grisham.

I read the prequel "Camino Island" a few years ago and thought it was a very interesting premise (someone steals original Fitzgerald manuscripts). But it really fizzled a third of the way in. I always knew he was formulaic, but at least he used to be entertaining. His books were always perfect for a beach read or plane ride. But now they're not even entertaining. Oh, but those first few... A Time to Kill, Pelican Brief, The Firm. Those were the days.

The newest is a “sequel” to Camino Island, which I thought was ok.
Camino Winds is so bad I returned it to the library 1/3 of the way in. No character development at all.
Embarrassing.

Same thing that happened to Tom Clancy. He started mailing it in.

I’ve always refused to read any Clancy done with a co-writer.

Thanks I was about to buy this book. I think this happens to everyone who gets famous. I recently listen to comedy special that wasn’t funny at all but everyone in the audience was laughing. I guess when your famous you can put out shite and people eat it up

Get it free, library or something, and give it a shot would be my thoughts.
I hate to turn someone away from a book they might like. All I can say is that I have read every Grisham novel and this one was not readable to me.

Are libraries even open?

I’m reading The Silent Patient, it’s pretty good so far.

Just about to start Part Two.
I’d say “on the fence” is a good way to describe where I am with it
Intrigued though.

I'm reading The Litigator right now, almost halfway through. Not bad and the main characters are entertaining. I dont read much of Grisham but I'll stay away from his new stuff.
