I have read The Martian and just started on his new book Project Hail Mary. So far this has been a good book though I'm only on chapter 3. I really enjoyed The Martian, especially the audio book version on Audible before they rerecored it with Will Weaton. I have NOT Read Artimis yet. It's on my to do list though. What are y'all's thoughts.

I’m a fan.

Really like the Martian.

As said above, Artemis was alright.

And so far I’m liking Project Hail Mary. I’m listening to the audiobook and the narrator is really good. On Chapter 7 so far.

Hail Mary was great. I highly recommend the audiobook. My mind would not have done a certain character’s voice justice.

I have 3 hours left of the Audible book. It's really good.

I'm about an hour ahead of you. It's been a "page turner" so far, really enjoying it.

I appreciate the nerdy smartass narrative style with Weirs characters. I have not read The Martian yet (plan to start it next) but based on Mark Watney in the movie I assume it is similar.

My BiL suggested skipping Artemis, it sounds like most here share that sentiment.

Before starting PHM I listened to all the books in the Terminal List series, which were also narrated by Ray Porter.

When they said his name in the intro, I was worried there would be some dissonance hearing the same voices matched with very different characters, but it hasn't been an issue.

Ray Porter.

At first his voice sounded like the actor who plays Gale in Breaking Bad. And because of that that’s who I envisioned as Ryland while listening. And I think that was perfect.

Just finished Hail Mary. I think it is a ridiculous book. I liked The Martian and Artemis.

Why do you think it is ridiculous?

Him going in and out of the ship on a whim, while it's spinning. Just meeting up with a spider alien and him understanding his talking. If any problem arises "poof", the alien just creates it or fixes it or some complex shite they knock out in what seems to be a few hours. In the beginning the alien assumes he breathes o2 based on analyzing his atmosphere. Should have came up with Nitrogen I would think. The "inside jokes" the author puts in his writing. Not hating on anyone for liking it but it's not for me as far as SciFi goes.

I got Hail Mary yesterday as a Father's Day gift from my daughter. Read chapter one last night and am hooked.
