I liked the toned back corrupt Southern Politician over the mexican cartoon character.

He was a better character but they ruined Andrea. I was ready to quit watching if they ruined another character this season.

Yeah. Govenor was better on the show. I thought they did a great job with him.

I do wish they made Andrea better. She was terrible on the show and was just waiting for her to die.

I'm wondering how much of that was her wanting to be written off as well seeing as her and Carol's actress are the last "Darabont regulars" left and all the others have asked to be written out.

Why do they want to be written out? I think the show is much better this season.

Well Jon Bernthal (Shane) was already slated to die right at the end of season 2 (after having his death much later than it was in the GN). But for instance Jeffery DeMunn (Dale) asked leave a lot earlier than the GN Dale died. He wanted to leave when Darabont was let go halfway through the 2nd season. Dale ended up dying instead of Herschel. Jeff DeMunn though changed his mind at the last minute and wanted to stay but it was too late they were forging ahead with Dale dying.

When we found out both that Andrea was split from the group and Carol "went missing" last season we thought that it was because they were writing out the characters. Hence because both Laurie Holden and Melissa McBride were Darabont regulars as well.

Darabont is known for 2 things - Adapting the works of Stephen King and having a group of regular actors that like to work with him.

The actors that played Shane, Dale Morales, Jim, Andrea, Carol, the Tank Walker were all known to have been in past productions of Darabonts.

In fact Jeff DeMunn (Dale), Jon Bernthal (Shane), and Andrew Rothenberg (Jim) are in this new show Darabont has premeiring tonight on TNT called Mob City.

Other Darabont regulars include Thomas Jane (who was the original Rick when it was planned for HBO) and Neal McDonough.

It sucks that McDonough is such a good friend of Darabont's because he would be a great psycho Negan.

The original plan for the Tank Walker was interesting as well. Before the budgets were cut (one of the reasons he left), his original plan for the Season 2 premiere would have starred the Tank Walker. There is a specific reason why he was played by Sam Witweir (a fairly big name actor for an "extra" role). The walker was also pointed out to be wearing a special forces type uniform (maybe it was Ranger or a SEAL I'll have to go back and look) while in a tank.

The reason for this was in Darabont's original idea for the episode, it would have shown how the guy got in the tank in the first place. Basically he would have been a SEAL/Ranger airlifted into Atlanta during its fall. It would have been at night. The ton would have been a war movie, people have said Black Hawk down at night with Walkers.

TBH this season is the best one yet IMO. I'm not so sure him leaving has hurt the show much.

I agree. Darabont gave us a great first season (as well as the Dixon Brothers some of the best parts of the TWD universe) but he also gave us the shite show of the first half of season 2. He obviously never had a long term plan. Then Mazzara got in and went through the material too quickly. I think Gimple is doing great things with the Walking Dead so far.

I loved his episodes he wrote ie 18 miles out, and Clear. I have loved this season with him in charge.

For the record, I don't know who the mods are in that thread but those nonreader guys are being dicks as well.

I've never read the comics but can someone explain the whole hunters and cannibal storyline?

And can you quit bitching about the other thread for a day?

They find a church with an African American preacher inside named Gabriel. Gabriel admits he survived by locking his family/friends/congregation outside the church and he feels that the group is there to punish him.

Dale is captured by this other group that eat his leg. He reveals to them that he has been bitten. This group are cannibals because they are shitty hunters.

Rick, Andrea, Abraham, and others in the group proceed to killing the entire group of them.

After the group gets back together they are on the road and are being hunted. Dale gets bitten by a walker, wanders off to die so Andrea won't know what happened and the hunters/cannibals kidnap him. Once they discover he was bitten already they leave him for the group to find him (minus a leg). Rick goes nuts and takes a group with him to slaughter the hunters.

Obviously they will have to do this differently but I'm sure a main character will have to die here.

Probably Tyreese which would be such a double subversion.

Dale died instead of Herschel

Herschel died instead of Tyreese

Tyreese dies instead Dale

Circle is complete.

I dunno. Tyreese was such a beloved character in the comics that I could see them keeping him around a bit longer in the show.

I'm thinking Glen. No way they do the Lucille dance with his face on AMC.

Then again...I didn't think they'd show anyone getting Tyrese'd either...

Only one character is going to take batting practice in the Show and that's Daryl.

You're probably right about that. He's a much bigger character than Glenn in the show and it would have the same effect.

I hope you're wrong though.

Makes sense but I think there would be a revolt if they killed off Daryl. I know several females that watch the show just for Daryl.

There has to be one character that continues in an "Andrea" roll and I hope it's Daryl. kind of pissed they ruined the Dale and Andrea characters on this show, at least Abraham is about to show up.

You mean as Rick's new love interest? I would definitely stop watching. I think Lily will fill this roll though (assuming they keep her around). Or maybe Michonne.

If you mean as the group's "sharpshooter" then I agree with you.
