The Border (Don Winslow)
Out today. Kind of embarrassed I didn't know there would be a third book (Power of the Dog, The Cartel).

Pumped to read it. Hopefully it'll make a great HBO/Netflix/etc. series one day.

Seriously? I had no clue either; loved Power of the Dog and the Cartel. Off to Kindle Books right now!

Never heard of this trilogy but thanks to this thread, I think I'll order the first one on Amazon here shortly. I've been looking for something to read.

If you read digitally, just go borrow from your library. I thought the fist book was very good then slightly downhill from there. So not expecting too much out of this one especially since the author came out w/ the anti-Trump rant. Everything he has ever written seems to indicate the border is a real problem.

He’s definitely showing his political leanings in this book

That will be a hard pass for me then. I read to get away from the political noise.

That's a bummer. First two didn't spare anyone, and I was hoping this would be more of the same.

Even in The Force it was like that, plenty of blame to go around to cops, politicians, criminals and public.

That's interesting. I just finished Power of the Dog and I'm about a third through The Cartel. Didn't know what to expect and love it so far.

The tone of the first book seemed critical of the government but it syncs up with the way I understand things to have been. It didn't seem political to me, or at least such a minor part of the story that I didn't notice it.

I thought it was interesting how much of the story mirrored either actual events or commonly understood interpretations of events (many of the killings in the cartels and mafias, Red Mist, ect...). Any non-spoiler hints on what is overly political in the last book? I'll probably still read it regardless because of how good the story is so far.

It was a lazy, cartoonish, orange-man-bad rant.
