Also, Oathbringer just released in Mass Market Paperback, I can finally read it (I really hate when my books in a series are different sizes).

At the bottom of the page right now there is a thread "Sci Fi / Fantasy Discussion and Recommendations".
I literally have that thread open in another tab.
I honestly haven't done much in terms of reading books since middle school/high school. So I've missed quite a lot in the past decade and some.
I'll try and remember what all I've enjoyed and have a look through that thread..

BS had an update on Stormlight 4 today. Said he is hoping for December 2020 for release.
Slight Spoilers for Book 4:
Said the Eshonai flashbacks may not work out and he may go with Venli instead.

If you make a post in there saying what you've read, some of the things you like some people will recommend some good stuff for sure.
And I was the same, had read a decent bit but got way out of habit after high school and reading a little bit after I got out of college. The last 2 / 3 years after I found this page I've really gotten back into it with a lot of people suggesting great series and all.
The reading challenge thread also helps me stay focused and knocking out books pretty consistently all year

Bought Oathbringer, going to get into it tonight at some point. Perfect time for a long weekend, i'm sure I'll end up getting through most of it by Monday night

I'm about 800 pages into Words of Radiance. I debating whether or not to start on the 3rd book, or take a break from these monster sized novels.

that is a very high rating on goodreads: 4.65/5

Anyone else struggle with Oathbringer? I loved the first two, and Way of Kings may be one of my favorite books of all time, but I just cannot get into this one like I did the first two. I'm about 600 pages in, so hopefully it picks up soon

Oathbringer changes the setting drastically away from the Shattered Plains, which is kind of jarring.
Also there is that loooooooooonnnnnnnnnggggggggggg part two with a lot of focus on Bridge 4 members not named Kal that takes a lot of time.
But the last part of the Book is worth it IMO.

I got tired of the Shallan dealing with her alter egos. I’ve hated her character since the first book. I do like the cosmere that sanderson has created, but this trilogy isn’t as good as mistborn. i am ready for some more wax and wayne.

Better than original mistborn for me, not quite as good as waz amd Wayne. But I just dont think you can really compare this or other sort of massive worldbuiling series to stuff like wax and wayne. Sheer size and the type of story they are going for seem very different to me.
Ambitious is an understatement for this one / stormlight. This felt like it had a lot of set-up for the next two books in it. I know he said the first 5 of stormlight willbe sort of their own standalone story before a sort of reset for the last 5 of the series.
Some of the ideas he is bringing up in the last half of the book are going to be interesting to see how / if he pulls off and makes it work. It was a bit of a challenge in some places, but I'm definitely interested to see where it goes.

He considers Stormlight to be his opus, basically the centerpoint of his entire Cosmere.

It grabbed me pretty strongly. I didn't have that feeling at any point, I don't think. The only part that may have taken too long was the espionage operation, but even then, it made sense why he took the time he did with it.
While I'm not sure it's as good as Way of Kings, it was excellent. I finished the audiobook in like 4 days, so I definitely marathoned through it.

Stormlight 4 just hit 75% today per Sanderson on Twitter

Yea I didn't get hooked early like I did with the first two, but the back half of the book was fantastic
