Daily Stormlight 4 update. 500 pages/100k words left to do in the final revision. After that, and the ketek, the book will officially be done!
If only GRRM had a quarter of his give a damn attitude then his series would be complete.

I love how he keeps us updated on his progress. Brandon is the man

I wish Lynch would just give us yearly updates on Thorn of Emberlain instead of crying about Trump and molesting female writers.

Sanderson is the GOAT. Dude just churns stuff out and is amazing with his fans.
The amount of good stuff he puts out in short periods of time is staggering. I've always had a theory that his wife is a writer too and they do it all together, as one person doing all of this stuff so quickly just seems impossible. But I have no evidence.

I thinks its probably just being a hyperfocused mormon whose only vice is occasionally gaming.

That's the real answer. The guy is a machine.

Just saw in the summer newsletter it includes a interlude chapter from Syl’s perspective.
Also, Wax & Wayne 4 is one of the next projects he has on deck (after skyward 3). #cantwait

Wax & Wayne is by far my favorite of his. I really really liked Words of Radiance and Way of Kings was pretty close. Oathbringer just seemed like a bit of a slog at points.
I just finished listening to Starsight, and it was ok but i liked Skyward 1 way better.

Jesus Christ - Sanderson has presold nearly $4,000,000 dollars worth of a leather bound Way of Kings book this morning.
He absolutely hit the jackpot finishing up Wheel of Time - basically absorbed the Robert Jordan fanbase pretty early in his career.

There is the kickstarter link if you want in. They look gorgeous - $200 for a two book volume of way of kings and some other like pins and buttons and poster and nerd shite if you are into that kinda thing.

There are a bunch of authors that have been as prolific as him for decent periods of time (mostly self published guys like Will Wight and Drew Hayes for example that have put out 17-18 books since they started writing in 2013), but I think what puts Sanderson in his own category is how long he's been able to sustain it. Typically authors wind up like Butcher has recently where he had 2 books a year for a long time with two series going and then kinda slowed down as he got more successful.
Sanderson has just been a machine even once successful. I think Sally is probably right with the Mormon/lack of vices giving more free time to write angle.

I’m starting to think we will get Winds of Winter before we get Thorn of Emberlain.

I’ve thought to myself several times that he has to have a team of people ghost writing with him. It’s truly incredible.

He still teaches a creative writing class at BYU as well because his predecessor in that course inspired him, and he wanted that to continue for other aspiring authors. Check out his Youtube channel, he posts his lectures.
Also live streams page signings/chats... with his parrot

ETA: Wow, so I subscribed to his channel several months ago and he hardly had one or two thousand subs because he rarely posted videos... just a few from several years ago. In five months or so he now has over 60k subs. In one of his videos he even makes a comment doing something with his YT account

Nah. If you watch some of his interviews or his BYU lectures; he talks about his schedule. He writes minimum 8 hours a day in two sessions. Something like 12pm-4pm and 10pm-2am. The time in between is for family. He follows that religiously and when working; his family will not disturb him. Even when he goes on vacation, tours; he still writes, does outlines for future books.
I remember him saying that he worked the graveyard shift at a hotel after college. He did this so he would have plenty of time to write every day.
Also it helps that he has a experienced writing group to review drafts etc. I think the core of that group has been together with Brandon since his days at BYU.

Ya it includes several successful professional writers / editors. He also says his brain has the capacity to write six hours of new fiction a day. Spending the rest on brainstorming / editing or other necessary tasks.
He wrote 13 books before he got published and has had tons and tons of time to get a good feel for where most of these stories are going it seems likes.
In terms of value - his 2020 and I think like 2016 lectures are really good though there is a lot of crossover in the two years. Writing Excuses podcasts is awesome as well, each one is 15 minutes and includes i think one other member of the writing group and regular guests.
The live signing sessions are OK, some good info but a ton of rehashed questions, etc.

I want to hold off on this one till we get close to 5 - but it is going to be difficult for me to stay strong I think.
Maybe I'll start a re-read of stormlight late this year, then after I finish Book 4 we should be a half year away from 5 at his pace.
