Just finished an older book by Michale Crichton - Pirate Latitudes. It isn't winning any book awards but I realized I really enjoy the pirate genre. Can anyone recommend a similar read in the same genre?

I like the R.E. Howard pirate stories. And Queen of the Black Coast from the Conan stories is a good pirate tale, although not the same type of pirate. LINK

there's an old Peter Benchley pirate novel called "The Island" that i remember reading in Afghanistan in 2010. I dont remember much about the book other than that i enjoyed reading it. i havent read the Crichton novel referenced, so i'm not sure if it fits the description you're looking for.

More of a historical text but the "Republic of Pirates" was a great read. Focuses on the beginning to the ending of the Golden Age of Carribean piracy.

This is a pretty damn good novel. Old time pirates operating in a modern world.

They made a movie about this in the 70’s starring Michael Caine. Never read the hood so not sure how it compares but the movies is pretty good.
