Spellmonger series is really good. By Terry Mancour
There will be 30 total books in the series. Each are incredibly detailed and pretty interesting. Mancour has created an incredible universe with a mix of fantasy and sci-fi. Very good.

30 books is huge - how many are out?
Posted on 1/26/21 at 12:02 pm to Sneaky__Sally
12 books and about 5 novellas.
And the books are long but good.
Mancour describes the universe very well but does not go in to Tom Clancy level of description.

They have good ratings on goodreads, definitely going to check those out at some point

Same, looks like they are all on kindle unlimited too, which is nice.

ya, those sound right up my alley with a huge scope and intertwining sci fi / fantasy
ETA: I think this is like the first series I've seen posted that you haven't already read.

He is about to publish 12.5 the stories between thaumaturge and archanist
Mancour’s novelllas go back and fills in stories from the past in the story. Like the Spellmonger’s honeymoon or the Wizards of Birchwood Bridge.
There are entire books what focus on characters other than the spellmonger.
Also each 10 books makes up a part of a trilogy.

Currently reading Best Served Cold by Joe Abercrombie. Its a stand alone book takes place in the 1st Law universe after the first trilogy.
Its about betrayal and revenge. Right up my alley.
I'm enjoying the hell out of it so far, but I love Abercrombie's writing style, and the universe itself.

They’re amazing. I like them better than the 1st law series

Stayed up late reading Amber Chronicles - almost finished the first book - 9 Princes in Amber last night.
It was kind of frustrating halfway through because I just wanted to know what the frick was going on, but very interesting and unique. Was not expecting the book to start out in a modern hospital after a car wreck.

Yeah, he does a good job of building a fantasy/mystery type novel to start it off, doing a nice slow build into the main storyline. Zelazny is just a really unique author in general, in the books I've read he manages to be one of the few old school fantasy guys that doesn't feel dated at all.

Ya it almost feels like a modern writing trying to do an updated version of a classic fantasy story - as opposed to something written 50 years ago.

just read Jay Kristoff's Nevernight chronicles
Really enjoyed that series. The first 2 books are especially great. The sex scenes got repetitive in book 3 tho haha

I am on the 5th book of the Amber Chronicles - really enjoying it. It isn't the most action packed story but a really cool world and concept that feels much more modern than it really is.

I plan on reading them. I'm currently working through a biography of Huey Long. Once that is done, I'll probably read the next standalone book.

Should I read Riftwar Saga or the Belgariad?
Posted on 3/2/21 at 8:54 am to Sneaky__Sally
I'd suggest Riftwar, but I've never been a huge Eddings fan. The Belgariad I found to be decent enough, but it's way too much of a by the numbers Tolkienesque fantasy that seemed like he was checking off fantasy tropes boxes as he wrote it.
