Just about to finish this. It’s a great book that tells the story of one of the groups of American and British forces who were sent to France around the time of D-Day to wreak havoc on the German forces. They were special forces but not like the Seals or Rangers. More like CIA/MI6.
I have thoroughly enjoyed it. It reads like fiction even though it is not. It tells the story as a “small” story. It isn’t sweeping but rather focuses on a few people (one really) and their experience in the days leading up to and following D-Day.
If you like stories about war and espionage give this one a shot. Also available on Audible with a good narrator.

May have to give this one a shot. Reminds me a lot of The Winter Fortress, where it essentially follows a small group's espionage/sabotage story within the bigger backdrop of WWII

Just finished it. I would recommend it to anyone interested in ww2. It is very interesting and well written. It is one of those war within a war stories.
Thanks for the recommendation.

A couple of pages into this book and it's really throwing me off that the American guy is named "Jean Claude" and the French guy is named "Bob".
