Have any of you read the Redwall books to your kids? The series is amazing, and the vocabulary incredible. I am reading our third to my 10 year-old. The vocabulary is still tough for him to read on his own, but I just can't believe the depth. Just wondering.

I read it as a kid, and I think it helped me really get a head start on reading. It also introduced me to certain tropes, and dealing with the loss of characters in books in a way that made more sense as a kid.

It was my first fantasy series. I really enjoyed it and it'll hold a soft spot for me. It was the book series I was able to talk about with my late-great grandfather.

Ya, that shite got me into reading.
Mossflower is the best one and while some are better than others - I lost my collection I had as a kid so I've been going back and buying used hardbacks and rereading them and some of them still hold up even as an adult.

Great series. Read them all as a kid. I think there is an animated series as well.

Jacques is a good writer. My only regret was I never read them in order

I started reading them in 5th grade. Read most of them. Loved them.

I’ve probably said this before but I got to meet him as a kid when he did a book signing and talk at Maple Street. He was a very nice and funny man and was encouraging to all the interested kids. I even remember him saying that Gonff was his favorite of all his characters. I loved the books and think they hold up pretty well. While not for adults his writing abilities definitely transcended the children’s genre.
