I absolutely love the movie. I had to read the book in high school, and I remember not liking it. But I was an idiot teenager.

Now that I'm a grown arse man, I'd like to try it again. Is it worth reading? Will it keep my interest?

I haven't read it since high school myself, but I remember it being solid but no where close to as good as the movie. One of those rare cases where that is true.

I tried it not too long ago for the first time since high school and just couldn't get into the language.

And they called him Natty Bumppo A LOT, which is something the 1992 film avoided.

Natty Bumppo is a silly, silly name. Sorry James Fenimore Cooper.

Nathaniel Bumppo was his real name in the book and they use it because his heritage and upbringing are important to who he is and becomes.

It’s worth the read, in fact, the whole series following his life is a pretty good read, long, but worth it
