Has anybody read this? I love WW2 but moreso the European Theatre. I'm in the middle of the liberation trilogy and loving it.

How does this Pacific Trilogy stack up and is it worth the significant investment? If not, is there a better way to go about the Pacific War?

The pacific trilogy is worth the read but it’s lengthy like the Liberation trilogy. The Pacific War by John Costello is a good one too, but I prefer Ian Toll.

It’s fantastic. Reads like a novel.

I have all three on my shelf, but it I thought it was very generic and a recycled summary of the pacific events.

James Hornfischer has some riveting books such as Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailers and Neptunes Inferno.

I read all three of them. They are fantastic. They are to WW II in the Pacific what Shelby Foote's trilogy was to the Civil War, the definitive work on the subject. I am particularly interested in the war in the Pacific because my dad fought in it for 2 1/2 years. This work brings it to life.

I did the audiobooks for the commute to work and I really enjoyed them.

Really never got bored at all with it. Kept my attention .

Self-gifted the boxed set for Christmas. Will sit on my shelf for a while since I haven't finished Atkinson's trilogy (along with the rest of my TBR). But the box looks great!

Last Stand is an incredible story! Destroyers taking on cruisers and battleships.

As far as a multi-volume series chronicling the war in the Pacific, I couldn't recommend something more highly.

Thanks for the replies, would yall recommending getting all the way through one series before starting the other or reading them chronologically? Like volume 1 of Atkinson and then 1 of Toll...
