Rihrya chronicles definitely live up the hype of the origjnal trilogy. Lower stakes action obviously but man what a trip. This book was basically them on vacation and the character interactions were so enjoyable.

9/10 for sure. Im hesitant to give anything a 10/10

Love all the Ryria books. Highly underappreciated fantasy series.

Which book in the series do you recommend starting with? I've picked up many of them in various sales, but haven't started any yet.

I'd do in publication order really, start with the Revelations series.

I agree with reading Revelations first. Then read the series in chronological order starting with the Legend books. These were good but my least favorite. So my advice is Revelations - Legends of the First Empire -Rise and Fall - Chronicles - then Revelations again. I'm doing this now. About to reread Revelations. Ryria is my favorite fantasy series.

Yeah feels like the best way. You would miss a lot of references the other way

I read (or listened rather) in chronological order starting with Legends of the First Empire not knowing Ryirah even existed and in retrospect I’m glad I did. I loved every book and have listed through them all a couple of times.

That would make The Crown Conspiracy the place to start?

Sullivan self-published is first books. He originally wrote the Revelations in six books. The Crown Conspiracy was the first. They have since been published in three. Theft of Swords is the first in Revelations trilogy and contains The Crown Conspiracy and Avenpartha. I would just buy Theft of Swords. Read the Revelations trilogy the go and read in chronological order starting with Age of Myth.

Still early. I’m on chapter 3 I think? I looked and saw that part 1 was only 10 chapters, so I should make it through pretty quickly.

Finished Crown Conspiracy and moved right on to the next part. Really enjoyed it. I always forget how much I enjoy a more grounded medieval fantasy book.

Hell yeah!

I certainly enjoy them more than the malazan and wheel of time type books

While I enjoyed the start more than malazan book 1, I’m also a big WoT fan.

Nearly done with part 2. Have 3 or 4 more chapters left

I want to read it. Can I start with The Crown Tower?

Theft of Swords is the consensus starting point.

I wouldn't. Start with Riyria Revelations trilogy first. Even Sullivan suggests you read those first. Then read all the books in chronological order starting with Age of Myth.

Ok.
Is his storytelling style more like Robin Hobb or George RR Martin?

I would say neither but if I had to pick I'd say Martin. His books don't get mired down like Hobbs. The plot steadily moves.
