It starts off decent enough, but once Donut becomes more... prominent (don't want to give any spoilers) is when it really takes off. I'm only 1/4 of the way through it at the moment, but damn this is a fun ride

I'm about to finish Red Sky Morning and then starting DCC #3 tomorrow.

I ripped through these really quickly, now I'm tempted to look at the written chapters for the next one. It seems like it's going to take another 5-10 books to finish the story, I hope the author finishes the series.

Thank you to this board for recommending this! I burned through the first book. I like physical copies so the only bad thing now is I have to wait until the hardcover release of book 2 in September.

Man, I think you're missing half the fun not listening to it.

Agreed. Audiobook is a must for this one.

Try out the Good Guys series and the Bad Guy series. Written by Eric Ugland. The audio performance is great. Its litrpg and they are like crack. Start with One More Last Time.

Starts off solid for both, but kinda falters the last few books IMO (though the most recent one of each were decent).
I think the Beware of Chicken series is probably the best Dungeon Crawler comparison. The Dark Profit Saga trilogy is really funny too.
Primal Hunter, He who fights with monsters, The ripple system, and Jake's magical market trilogy are probably my favorite Litrpg series other than those three.

Just finished the released books.
Burned through them with a pause to read Red Sky Morning.
Great series.
Can't stress enough for people to go the audiobook route, great experience.

I mean... just like progression fiction, like Cradle, is basically an anime novel, LitRPG like Dungeon Crawler Carl is basically an RPG video game novel.
I avoided the series for a long time because the genre sounded so dumb to me... but I admit that I'm enjoying it.

They fall off pretty hard after about 3-4 books. Ugland is a master of creating a cool environment... and then not knowing what to do with his characters. It's also kind of insane that he charges full price for his audiobooks when they are all 7-8 hours and after book 3-4 of each, barely anything actually happens.
I've been leaning more into the "slice of life" style of litrpg, Beware of Chicken, Heretical Fishing, ect. Dungeon Lord by Huego Heusca finally releasing another book is insane, as it's probably my favorite of the old school ones (between that and Ascend Online).

I have Heretical fishing sitting on my kindle, I'll have to hit that one next after I finish the most recent primal Hunter book.
Have you read Benjamin Kerei? He has pretty good slice of life stuff similar to Beware of Chicken.
Ascend Online has been so disappointing, dude just stopped writing them, and he was one of the main dudes that got me reading Litrpg.
