It’s been a very long time since I’ve read any Hiaasen. ,and I’m about to dive back in. I’m just curious. Anybody want to take a crack at ranking his best work, it can be your personal favorites, of course. Tks.

Tourist season and skin tight are his best two I think, followed by the first couple Skink books (double whammy and native tongue).

They sort of run together, but for some reason Double Whammy stands out for Skink books. I enjoy them all though.

I'm reading Bad Monkey right now. Picked it up in an airport, had heard about Hiaasen and just wanted to give him a shot. It's not bad. I will definitely read some of the recs in this thread.

I’ve read four Hiaasen books
Stormy Weather
Lucky You
Bad Monkey
Sick Puppy

I’ve enjoyed all of them. I probably would say that I liked Stormy Weather the best, but it might be just because it was the first I read, and had no clue what to expect.

Based on what I’ve read, if you like any of it, you’ll probably like all of it.

I’m a native Floridian, so I might be able to relate better than most.

I just read one, pretty good. Do these need to be read in a particular order? I read the one with the barracuda. (forgot title)

I've read probably a half dozen of his books. I forget all the titles, and honestly the premise of all of them is so similar I forget which storyline goes with which book. I did like the one where the guy threw his wife overboard the cruise ship.

I’ve been out of order since I started.

A fellow poster suggested reading them in order, and Im going to try to do that going forward. I don’t think it’s crucial, though.

There are at least two characters that show up in multiple books (Skink, Jim Tile)

It helps some, especially the Skink story line. I read them as they came out in the 80's and was a big fan. He seemed to get stale though. I hadn't read him in a while when I tried Skinny Dip last year. Meh, that one just seemed like lazy writing.
