If I remember correctly, valar morgulhis is just a common greeting in Braavos that everyone says, and she just gave him a regular braavosi coin.

So a ship captain gave Arya passage to Bravos and a cabin based on a regular coin? Naw man, it was special, every Braavosi knows that anyone holding that coin was a very special person and they were not to be denied. You don't want to mess with the faceless men.

Byron, I'm not sure what they are talking about with Dresden files getting worse. The first book is the worst by far, the first three books are just decent then it really takes off after that. That supernatural style feeling will most likely stick with you .

I've read tons of fantasy for 30 years and I don't find Rothfuss to be even remotely generic. Actually, he's extremely far from it.

The young orphan prodigy thing us about as generic as it gets, as is all the stuff he goes through throughout the books, the school, etc. it's a storyline I've read tons of times. Not sure what exactly you find particularly original with rothfuss, he's well written but there is absolutely nothing special about the story.

I would agree about the first three books or so of Dresden files being generic, but once he builds the cast of characters and gets into the main plot starting in books 4 or so there is nothing generic about it all. Great mixture of supernatural, detective novels, and fantasy. It's definitely no asoiaf or anything, but it's pure fun.

You really don't need to spoiling 24 on an ASOIAF thread.

Yeah, if you're enjoying the first book you should definitely enjoy the rest. I usually tell people that I've had read the series just to work through the first couple, as they are definitely the authors first efforts, and it shows a bit. Not that they are long reads anyway though.

The series definitely explores all the facets of mythology and creatures much like supernatural, just from a wizard perspective.

the show kind of ruined the mystique of the coin when Daario picked a coin from Braavos out of the bag with the second sons and said "Valar Morgholis"

Eh, I read the interview and I can't say it confirms anything. For all we know she's been told to answer no to those questions for the integrity of the show.

It'll be their first big frick up if they don't include her IMO.
