The appearance descriptions are not similar. Too many people at Castle Black know of Mance, including Aemon, because when Mance was a recruit he trained at Castle Black like all the other recruits train at Castle Black. If Mance was Arthur, why did he almost kill Jon... twice?

Mormont only joined the NW after his son shamed him by taking off instead of being beheaded. Since Ned wasn't Lord of Winterfell and actually in the north until after the rebellion, I doubt that Mormont has been with the NW for more than 10 years.

I'm rereading COK right now. Both Jorah and the Old Bear say he took the watch before Jorah brought his wife home, thus before his "shame", since that was to get money to buy her jewels/things back.

Almost positive.

Hey, I just wanted to let ya'll know that kingbob has been banned from td for posting in the Hodor thread. He was not spoilering content or "guessing" about future developments. He was merely answering direct questions about stuff that had already happened in the show without revealing any future or book only content. Just warning ya'll, the admins are serious and do not care what is posted. Any posting is grounds for banland.

I just thought I'd let ya'll know hoping to save anyone from making the same mistakes and in the hope that some of you will go to bat for him in the next reinstatement thread. I'm sure he'll be missed on here and especially on the poliboard.

He will be taking the banning in stride and using it to focus more on his non ASOIAF studies with graduation right around the corner.

He gave Jorah is head seat of Bear Island and joined the NW and worked his way up to LC. Jorah then screwed up selling slaves.

Benjen would have know if Dayne was Mance. I just don't think Dayne is alive.

And now his watch has ended.

We will resurrect him one day.

Back to the Arthur Dayne thy...

I'm almost positive Dawn is NOT Lightbringer. It's not even Valyrian Steel, and it's light is a glow, not anything remotely resembling flame. And the idea of Arthur Dayne hiding Dawn is especially hard to swallow for a couple of reasons:
1 - He would deny house Dayne both its ancestral blade and the title that goes with it. Doesn't fit his character code at all, even if he did believe in prophecy.
2- Ned would have to knowingly return a fake Dawn to Dorne. No way could he pull this off, even if he WOULD.

I think a re-forged Ice turns out to be LB, once Oath keeper and birdies' Bane are melted and joined, both having been soaked in the right blood...

Well, he shouldn't have posted in there; Chicken posted that statement on top of the board for a reason. I posted in there by pure accident the day before Chicken posted it and I immediately erased my post ASAP when I noticed my mistake. I'm doubling checking thread titles from now on before I post in GoT threads--it can be easy to mix them up.

I agree on Ice being Lightbringer. Wouldn't it make sense that after the first great war against the Others, the saviors of Westeros, the Starks, would maintain possession of the sword that defeated them? The fact that Ice must be reforged also brings to mind the story of the forging of Lightbringer. While Dawn is the only other likely choice, imo, Ice seems to be my pick for Lightbringer.

The doom didn't come to Valyria, and by extension the Targ dynasty and Valyrian steel, until several thousand years after the long night. By what we are told, Ice is only about 400 years old. It, unfortunately, just isn't really possible for Ice to be the original Lightbringer.

This is part of the theory. Mance supposedly was raised on the watch but there is no real documentation of his childhood. Plus, it is against their vows to father children, meaning the idea of him being taken and raised among the watch is sketchy at best. It seems just as likely that it is a fabricated backstory.

Aemon would have been on the Wall at that point when Mance was a child. There were enough people on the Wall to know how and when Mance came to the Wall and left it.

She's got to make it back soon after ADWD. The Khalasar finds her, but she's been riding Drogon and shite, so I feel like she will take them over or burn them all.

If she takes them over like I think she'll arrive at Mereen with them as shits goin down with Barristan. She will wreck the city and then they all sail back with Victorian especially if they have a horn that can control the dragons.

She has to go soon cause it's fricking snowing in KL
