I thought it was established that the White Walkers goal is to bring eternal winter? The Long Night or something like that. Eternal darkness according to The Red Woman. And Asiz or Astor, whatever it is, is supposed to defeat the White Walkers and prevent this eternal winter.

I always get the book version confused with the show version. The book version was way better and had more detail, but there were a couple of key things that D&D kept in until they decided to have their bro Jason Momoa come back for that meh scene.
The roof looks burned up/falling apart, and there's snow in the throne room. Wouldn't surprise me if Cersei attempts to burn the place/goes out with a bang before she dies. And Dany gets *thisclose* to the throne but doesn't touch it; she's going to come close to being Queen but never will.
