Did they ever explain why they didn't put Loras on the Kingsguard in the show?

Stuff like that seems to be explained in the commentary. That's what I've found since listening to the first season.

Probably because the rest of the tyrells are largely irrelevant and they needed a catalyst for Sansa's marriage. I bet he gets put in it now by some of Cersei's under handing in the show.

Definitely think Loras will be in it during S4 and he'll go to Dragonstone in S5...and get confirmation on whether he's severely injured or not.

Anybody think Loras will get some kinda gay torture type death? Like when ole boy Vito on the Sopranos death included sticking a pool cue up his arse?

Loras is headed to Slavers Bay. He heard people were riding dragons and got a hard on.

But seriously, I think he really is heading to Slavers Bay.

Seven hells we need characters heading back to Westeros rather than to Dany.

I think the show people like to be crueler to the characters than the books were... Sansa had a hint of a notion she would marry Ser Loras in the books and was quickly devastated when told Loras couldn't while on the Kingsguard. I think the show guys wanted to hone in on that pain for Sansa by making it a real possibility.

They also made Robb's wife pregnant and decided to go all Plan C on her at the Red Wedding which seemed a little unnecessary and excessive.

And then there's Theon, but...well... frick Theon.

I think I might be the only one that feels sympathy for Theon. I'll elaborate on it later because I'm watching The Blacklist right now.

I have mixed emotions about him. He is the Fredo of Westors

I feel sympathy for Theon as well. He's a great character.

I have a little sympathy for Theon and I think he may take a Jaime esque turn in the coming books, maybe, maybe not.

My sympathy stems him growing up in a crap situation and being very very stupid , just like Fredo.

Same here. I absolutely hated him before I read Dance...everytime I read a Reek/Prince of Winterfell/Theon/etc. chapter in Dance, it was "holy shite" at the end of it. Ramsay is a disgusting psycho...he has zero humanity, at all.

The chapter that disturbed me the most was when Ramsay married Jeyne...and the ending of that chapter with the forced rape. Wow. That was awful.

I had a dream earlier today that I was going to college with Ramsay.

In my opinion, the Theon chapters in ADWD are Martin's finest work.

They're definitely among the best chapters in the whole series. And as critical as many of us have been about Feast and Dance's pacing, I enjoyed Theon's chapters for sure. So much is happening behind the scenes in the Theon chapters it's unreal. Lady Dustin and Wyman Manderly, for instance. Oh and trying to figure out Roose's end game, especially with Ramsay.

I hope he does but I'm not sure how much of him is left....
