I feel confindent that she was, I don't see a rape angle, plus who is going to rape the sister of the greatest swordsman on the kingsguard. I don't think that even Rhaegar or Aerys could have gotten away with that. Aside from her brother, the host of the tourney Oswell Whent, and Selmy would have cut the perpetrator to pieces.

I don't believe it was a Stark, that just became a convenient cover story for Ned with Jon Snow. None of the story lines with the Starks make any sense with regard to her. Look at it from her point of view:

Brandon's engagement was to a Tully was announced at that tourney. She would have had to sleep with him, in Tully's land, knowing they had he was about to be married to Cate. Lose the child, then hears he dies and then two years or so later kills herself after war is over? Also when Brandon came riding into KL calling for Rhaegar's head, it would have been hey Dayne, you know that wolf who knocked up your sister up last year he is here talking shite.

There is zero chance that Ned could have married Ashara and the both would have known it. Maybe they fricked since Ned wasn't betrothed, but like you said he had no game.

I think there may have been a possibility that Ned liked her but I think that Rickard would've wanted Ned to marry one of his liege lords' daughters.

And I think it may have been Ned, but yeah, he had ZERO game despite having Brandon for a brother and Robert the manwhore as his foster brother and I'm convinced that he was a virgin until he married Cat.

That's what i wrote/should've clarified more; I meant a Stark liege lord's daughter, i.e. a Mormont, Manderly, Umber, Karstark, Glover, Ryswell, etc.

Rereading ASoS, I want to slam janos Slynt's face in a George foremen grill.

Probably the reason why that Jon II chapter in ADWD is in my top favorite chapters; seeing Jon finally be a badass and chop his head off, along with Stannis the Mannis' head nod . Although, my personal all-time favorite chapter of the whole series is the last Sansa chapter in ASoS.

Maybe if Jon has sexy times again then that'll be my favorite.
