This Dornish Chapter ends in Griffin's Roost, which is just a days ride from Storm's End. :its happening:

Plus, I find the Great Dornish Conspiracy to be fascinating; its definitely going to have significance in King's Landing.

I think some book readers are letting the TV show ruin Dorne, for the most part. And that's too bad.

As much fun as the GDC is, House Martell can't be too happy with what happened to Quentyn

Quentyn

Not too many authors would dedicate an entire novel to red herrings. I think it gives legitimacy to Aegon's claim. The purpose of Quentyn's chapters was to also cast doubt on Aegon, another new character with tons of questions that is central to the Iron Throne story. Because Quentyn failed at his quest, most readers assume Aegon will also fail; and that is just brilliant writing by GRRM.

I just didn't like Dorne in the books to begin with. And the show made it even worse.

Any scenario where Aegon is legit is mediocre storytelling.

Can you imagine all the mind numbingly boring pages of Dany you've read, bein completely worthless essentially if Aegon was legit?

They are not exactly going to perform a DNA test. Legitimacy for the Iron Throne has more to do with who has the biggest army and best alliances, and less to do with the next person in the line of succession.

Most likely, Aegon's legitimacy will be questioned by anyone with a claim to the throne, especially Dany. Aegon's claim will be yet another obstacle for Dany (and/or Jon) and they could also become rivals of each other, like so many Targaryens princes before them.

This is the War of the Westerosi Roses, with multiple challengers, usurpers and claimants to the throne.

That EP 3 thread is getting pretty long, so I'll post here.

I don't know if this is really crackpotty but it's a question.

Jon was the 998th LC of the NW. I have always thought that number must've meant something since it's so close to 1000.

Since he's done is there some meaning with who will be 999 and 1000?

How much mayhem would this board be if the next book was released during this season or at the start of the next? There would have to be 10 active GOT threads at the same time

No, there can be only one.

What is thread may never die.

I think its worse than that.

There are maesters that apparently only read the books due to interest in the show, and now defend the adaptation at every opportunity.

And some that are incapable of separating the two, assuming the books will reflect the show plot and ending.

That's really too bad.

Of course, there are still fReaders that will never know what they missed, just browsing cliffs notes to try to keep up.

I refuse to let Dildo & Douche ruin some awesome arcs for me because some frigging focus group data analizer says so. I want to follow where 2phat leads, with no concern for production cost or budget constraints.

Ok, Im done.

Yes, it was.

Thank you.

You should've heard all the bitching over Feast and all the time spent on the Kingsmoot.

Now they're like
"Oooooooh! Kingsmoot!!"

I know it was discussed...I don't remember if anyone came up with anything...anything that stuck, anyway.

Something about helping to determine the actual age of TNW...more support for Sam saying the years and the histories don't mesh...

Nothing that stuck...

define Dorne- is it what happens with characters from Dorne? or what happens to characters while in Dorne?

I like the stories about the people of Dorne, Red Viper, Sword of the Morning, Prince Doran's plots, and the sand snakes. I didn't like the whole Quentyn & Oakheart stories.

Was looking forward to see how the Dark Star and Alleras play into the story, but since they aren't in show can't be to important.

The show story line in Dorne is really bad.

I think I would actually like this. Would certainly appease those that think it is all too predictable.

I enjoyed the chapters of Doran in his court. I enjoyed Arianne trying to run away with Myrcella. I like Areah Hotah.

Dorne was good.

I did not like Quentyn and Oakhart, but that was a Dany story line to me.

Le sigh

The show =\= the books

I'm not sure why people still think the show is "following the books" if they have been doing it less and less over the course of each season.
