Anyone read any of Baldacci’s latest books?
They are not straight crap like Grisham in recent years.
My issue is the overuse of similes. He is obviously working on his craft but he’s gone over the top.

I'm not a fan of his newer series. I wish he would go back to Puller or Robie. Amos hasn't really done it for me.

I loved his early stuff.
Puller, Robie, Sullivan and Maxwell and the Camel Club.
I’m reading Archer right now.
Not a bad story but reads like a sappy old fashioned detective book.
“She had legs that would cause a boxer’s knees to buckle and her lips were as lush as a cherry tomato and ripe for picking “
I made that up but you get the idea.

I like his books, just hard to really get into the new characters.

I stopped reading him when he branched off into half a dozen different series, all ongoing at the same time. Not worth the effort.

The last Decker novel wasn’t that great either.

That’s where he lost me too. My favorites were the King/Maxwell series and the Camel Club. Trying to get into the Amos Decker one but the first book didn’t really grab me that much.

Liked the Atlee Pine series. Disliked the Archer books. As someone posted, too sappy. Read the first two, will not read the 3rd one.

Almost done with first Archer book. It grew on me once I got into the period being in the 50’s.
I think he wrote it a bit sappy on purpose to match old detective books and shows.

I liked the first Archer book enough to read the second. I enjoyed Archer’s back story and had hopes for a decent series but found the second one WAY too 40s pulp fiction and noir for my tastes. YMMV of course.

I've read the first two. And I'll get to #3 sometime.
I enjoy how no internet/smartphones/computers/cameras, basically 2022 technology, is part of the story.
Just a blast from the past I guess...

Crazy that this thread popped up. I was at the bookstore earlier today looking for something new and blindly bought a baldacci knowing pretty much nothign about the guy. I've heard of his name before but don't know anythign about his works. I ended up buying Camel Club since the name sounded familiar and I thought I recognized it.
AFter a very brief wiki search he's got 7 or 8 differnet series then has some standalones. In yalls opnions what are some of the better series, and what are some of the best standalones? If I enjoy CC I'll definitely be looking to either continue the series or maybe try a standalone.
