David Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter series are very good. I have read all of them and can't wait for the next one to come out. It is a humorous legal mystery, series; each book about 6 or 7 hours long. Very easy listening and fun to listen to. You don't need to read them in order however if you listen to one of them and enjoy it, I'd then go back and start with book 1 and read them in order.

They are a light listen, funny, challenging and a great way to pass the hours on a long drive. I don't think you'd be disappointed in them. Good luck and e mail me back if you enjoy them and you listen to them and enjoy the series. hblegend@outlook.com

Do these have dog titles? If so I think I read one or two many years ago and then forgot about them. I think I'll pick the series back up.

The Beartown trilogy by Frederik Backman. Really anything by Backman. A lot of Don Winslow books the cartel trilogy in particular.

Mistborn. 3 books that aren't too long and are extremely well written with an incredible set of characters and story. Best part: the narrator is one of the best in the business.

From there you will be welcomed into the great Cosmere universe of Brandon Sanderson

Old Time Radio Drama -- Sort of like very short audio books

The following is a USA Today article from a couple of years ago. For anyone interested in learning about Old Time Radio it's not a bad place to start.

The web’s best kept secret? Free classic radio dramas
quote:

If you’re looking to fill up your smartphone, tablet or laptop with great content, there’s a lot more than just music, videos, ebooks, and games. Without costing a dime, there are many tens of thousands of “old time radio” shows – from the golden age of radio – available for streaming or downloading.

You might be asking yourself “Why would a future-looking technology journalist want to fill up his phone with radio dramas popularized in the ‘40s and ‘50s?” Yes, I see the irony. But you’d be pleasantly surprised at how entertaining these are – and they’ve kept me sane while commuting in a car or resting my eyes on a plane. Or, in many instances, I'm playing a game on my phone or tablet while listening to these shows at the same time.

These bite-sized old-time radio (“OTR”) shows are typically 20- to 40-minutes in length. We’re not talking audiobooks here, which are typically narrated by one person, but rather, these are well-acted radio plays, often with music and sound effects. Because you're using your imagination to "see" the characters, environments and actions, these shows feel wonderfully intimate and personal.

Hello from the Magic Tavern. It's broadcasted live from the Vermillion Minataur by Arnie Niekamp after he fell into a trans-dimensional portal behind a Burger King restaurant in Chicago and landed in the magical land of Foon. He co-hosts with a drunken wizard of many names but most commonly known as Usidore the Blue and Chunt the talking badger.

Listen to “Blueprint to Apocalypse” by Dan Carlin.

If you are a student of history at all you’ll enjoy it. It’s something like 16 hours and the only way I can describe it is riveting. It really was amazing. I learned a ton listening to it.
