Check out my book, "Why, Gary, Why?"
Its a true story and it is the best book on child rape, kidnapping, and murder you will ever read.
And it has LOL moments as well...its not all doom and gloom.

A very deep subject. But thanks. I appreciate you sharing such a personal story and experience. And I hope you're healing from any pain or trauma you endured. Also, please post a link to your book so everyone will know where to find it!

The worst hard time - Timothy Egan ( it’s about the dust bowl.. read it 4 years ago and it still sticks with me at how brutal that was for the folks who stayed)
challenger - Adam Higganbotham ( finished this audiobook today and it was superb.. nasa failed those astronauts)
His other book Midnight at Chernobyl was fantastic as well.
2 of of my more favorite recent books
One more to recommend - “The warmth of other suns”
It highlights 3 different black peoples at various stages of the civil rights era and how they go to where they ended up . Really fascinating book.

Interesting but I don't personally believe in aliens. Never saw one. Unless illegal aliens count. Lol

Do you know why your book isn't on the apple books app? I guess I could be old fashioned and read a physical copy.

Hey, a lot of people still love holding a real book. It feels good!

An Island to Oneself by Tom Neale

I'm linking to paperbacks, but these all appear to have kindle, audio, etc. options.
Operation Paperclip - Jacobsen
In Broad Daylight - McLean
I mean, I read mostly non-fiction - anything by Bowden (Blackhawk Down, Killing Pablo, Guests of the Ayatollah) or Jacobsen fits the bill. Journalists who are good writers are ideally the best (true) storytellers.
Obviously fictionalized, but 3 that stand out as "historical novels" are:
The Killer Angels - Michael Shaara
Gates of Fire - Pressfield
The Ten Thousand - Michael Curtis Ford

The Night Stalker - Philip Carlo
Story about the serial killer Richard Ramirez. Bundy, Manson, and Dahmer come to mind when you think of recent(ish) serial killers, but Ramirez was the worst and craziest story of them all imo.

Mindhunter is a good read if you like books about this. I read the book and then watched the show.
