I was adjunct English faculty (along with other institutional roles) until I cut bait for the private sector.

I was headed that way, until I decided I didn't want to be in research academia and preferred teaching. Got my MA in English Lit then went into secondary education.
Still taught college-level concurrent classes there until I founded a school where I still work.
My main interests in grad school were post-modern literature and early 20th-century proletarian literature (thesis was on Steinbeck).

Same here.
And honestly, that, plus what I saw going on in Academia at the time was just...unsettling. I left with my MA as well....then went back into Academic Admin and then went adjunct because I just wanted to teach.
