when a program with little recent success brings in three 5* recruits in a single year - well, it's not hard to assume something's going on.

Ole Miss has been able to bring in top recruiting classes with no shot to win and no national reputation. Its difficult to imagine any scenario where this could happen on the up and up. When in doubt, remember, we are talking about Ole Miss.

The NCAA has every reason to punish UM here (and state of MS)...state flag, repeat offender, religious freedom law, etc...people across the country are wanting bad things to happen to MS so what better way to show it than by causing harm to the "flagship" school of a state that nobody cares about in who plays in the best conference in the country.
As mentioned before, if UM isn't nailed the NCAA will lose what little credibility it has. On the flip side, all of the big boys will be lining up knowing that beyond a shadow of a doubt, they won't be punished for ANYTHING. And if THAT'S the case, well, Katie bar the door.
