He basically pulled a Donald Trump move. Trump was a franchise owner in the USFL, took a leadership role, and pushed to force the NFL to take in several of the USFL teams, including (especially) his, because he always wanted to own an NFL franchise. The NFL balked, and the USFL folded. Trump was one of the few owners that pushed to spend heavy $$ signing top college players and competing with the NFL dollar for dollar, when the USFL wasn't established early on to handle that money investment. It was all so he could work his way into the NFL. Several USFL teams couldn't float the spending, and went bankrupt. Gee, thanks Donald.... One wonders what ulterior motive this guy had with the AAFL....
