NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that JaMarcus Russell, who ran the 40-yard dash in 5.2 seconds three months ago, is now garnering “significant interest” from “more than one team” around the league after shedding “50 pounds” since starting his latest NFL comeback.

While his potential destination is “kind of a well-kept secret,” Russell wants to go to a team that has a quarterback who is a leader where he can “sit on the bench and learn a little bit,” according to Rapoport.

Rapoport also notes that the 6-6 QB is also “more than open to going to the CFL,” where he has also received a lot of interest. In 31 games (25 starts), Russell, 27, completed 354 of 680 passes (52.1 percent) for 4,083 yards with 18 touchdowns to 23 interceptions during three seasons (2007-09) in Oakland.

If I am an NFL team I would bring him in for a camp invite. See his attitude and how good he looks, and just see how long he can last. With nothing guaranteed, if from day one he is a problem, he is gone?
Would still one of the strongest arms in the NFL, and I said it from day one he would be a great speaker at the Rookie Symposium.

Keep working Jamarcus!!!

I read that in Tony Wonder's voice while he's doing the special Wonder air quotes with his hands.

Dropping 50 pounds must have sent the right message.

He's still radioactive due to his reputation, but a team with a structured environment and an established starter can be a good place for him to make a comeback. I hope he eventually catches on as a starter somewhere and succeeds.

"Why is this?" in "quotations?" Maybe I am "confused."

Send him to Denver to sit behind Peyton and get away from the South and his bad influences. Other options good for him (although I doubt the teams want him) could be Green Bay, New England, etc.

Wish him the best

The "only thing" that would make this "better" would be "more quotations"
