this doesn't matter. Kickers don't look at the uprights when the they contact the ball. They look at the uprights to line up, but the uprights are on the hashes so it's very easy. So no kicker is going to be affected by this.

Someone doesn't understand kicking. I'm not buying this. Kicking is all muscle memory. They step off at a different angle depending where they are between the hashes. At this level, these guys have kicked from every possible place on the field and should know exactly which direction to face when approaching the holder.
It's like the fans behind the goals posts waving their hands thinking they're going to distract the kicker. That doesn't work because he looking at the holder and the ball, not the goal posts.
