Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has made a $100,000 donation to athletics at Hueytown High School and Hueytown Middle School, Jefferson County School officials said in a statement Thursday morning.

“It’s a blessing that I’m able to give back to the community that has given so much to me. I hope this donation will help encourage kids to excel academically and athletically,” Winston said in a statement.

That's not the best part of town in Jefferson County too. That money should go a long way. Hopefully he continues this year after year as those kids/parents/teachers could use it for the betterment of that part of town.

My wife teaches at Hueytown Elementary. Hueytown is not that bad... overstated by DoubleDown. This money will help but there are certainly Birmingham City Schools way worse off then Hueytown. I do hope he continues with it and gives back to the academic side as well.

My little cousin is battling cancer and Jameis has made trips to Children's in Birmingham to see him without any sort of publicity. I used to give the guy hell but he is a good dude.

Dude just was immature and but always seemed like a good person. Everyone grows up at a different age.

100k is nothing to him which, in and of itself, is repulsive

He only has to steal about 3,000 pounds of crab legs to make it back.

Stealing? More like the employee didn't realize Jameis was allowed free crab.

Each high school in the county will get a new can of tennis balls. The rest will be spent in administrative fees.
