Lou Holtz Will Receive Presidential Medal Of Freedom From Donald Trump
Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports
The White House has announced that 83-year-old former college football coach Lou Holtz will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom on Thursday...
quote:

The award is recognized as the "Nation's highest civilian honor," according to the White House ... usually given to someone who has "made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States, to world peace, or to cultural or other significant public endeavors."

So, why Lou? Here's what Trump's team is saying ...

"America recognizes Lou Holtz as one of the greatest football coaches of all time for his unmatched accomplishments on the gridiron, but he is also a philanthropist, author and true American patriot."
His career record as a college football coach is 249-132-7 -- with 22 bowl appearances (he won 12 of them).

Umm.. What great feat did he do? He did get fired that time from Arkansas for endorsing that racist senator from North Carolina. He also made racist comments at the RNC this year so is that why MAGA is giving him a medal? Participation trophy culture.

Go find the "Do Right" speech... and apply it to your life. I assure you, this is no participation trophy. The man can give a speech that will motivate you to be better.

Mark May should get a medal for all of the saliva bombs he took from Lou spitting out his words over the years.

It's the equivalent of being Knighted in the UK. He's a better man than many of the people that have gotten it lately.

That makes no fricking sense. He’s a fricking drunk. Great coach? The fool thought the “Veer” could work in the NFL.

I read the quote as this isn't for what he did as a coach... Trump is just pointing out that many only know him for what he did on the gridiron, but he has done much more.
