There is truth to it. I played basketball through college, and one summer in high school, I had a job that improved my grip strength a lot and I didn't pick up a basketball for most of that summer. When I picked up a ball and started playing again, I had incredible control of the ball because of my improved grip strength. I can't even describe how good the ball felt in my hands with everything from dribbling, to passing, to shooting. It made a huge difference. I distinctly remember dribbling up the court on a fast break and making a great pass and thinking in the moment how much control I felt I had and how strong my fingers felt controlling the ball.

The Greatest, next to Bill Russell. Wish Russell and Chamberlain could have been in Space Jam. That would have been Monstrous.
