Field of Dreams is easily one of the best sports movies ever. The Chicago White Sox and New York Yankees announced this morning that they'll be playing a regular season game at the “Field of Dreams” Iowa ballpark on Aug. 13, 2020...

Per MLB.com...
quote:

The design of the ballpark in Dyersville, including the shape of the outfield and the bullpens beyond the center-field fence, will pay homage to Comiskey Park, which was home of the White Sox from 1910-90. The right-field wall will include windows to show the cornfields beyond the ballpark, which will overlook the movie set.

Fans attending the game will walk along a pathway through a cornfield, before the corn clears and reveals the sparkling diamond, equal parts heaven and Iowa, the birthplace of Hall of Famers Bob Feller, Cap Anson, Dave Bancroft, Fred Clarke, Red Faber and Dazzy Vance.

If you build it, he will come...

Pretty much kills the purpose if you're just building a stadium in a corn field. Should look and feel like the move. Have small bleachers, limit it to 50-100 people. Old uni's, if it's a modern day stadium like the animation is showing, this wont be as cool.

Might be TV only or maybe limited to a very small number of invitation only fans. Very cool idea. Hope the players and umpires wear retro uniforms.

I’ll go, but I’m leaving in the 4th inning to beat the traffic. Jk—very cool idea...but seriously, the traffic will suck.

That's Smokey Joe Wood and Mel Ott. Yeah. Ty Cobb wanted to come but none of us could stand the sonofabetch when he was alive so we told him to stick it! hahaha.

I went there this summer. It’s still exactly like the movie and very well maintained. That is a very small town though. The McDonalds off the interstate is the other local attraction.
