As you can see above, Max Scherzer was ejected from the New York Mets' game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday. The former Cy Young Award winner was bounced after a foreign substance check on his hands and glove. After the game he tried to explain why his hands were so sticky...

Meh, both umpires said it was the stickiest hand they'd seen since the foreign-substance check started. Pitchers know rosin is legal in moderate amounts, now they're trying to find out where the legal limit is. I guess Max found it.

They should just start using the tacky baseball used in Japan and ban all foreign substances rather than leave it up to the umpire's discretion.

Rosin should be legal or not... If the guy is washing his hands in front of an official then applying a legal substance, I don't see how that's an ejection much less a suspension. If you don't want players using Rosin... ban Rosin. This "well it's OK but only a pinch" stuff is nonsense because now it's the umpire's judgement call.
