Fastest recorded pitch. Umps and batters who faced Nolan Ryan in his peak—early 70s—say he was unsurpassed

Exactly. One only has to look at his old yt videos to see oh explosive his fastball was. Nobody comes close to Ryan.

AI Overview You can estimate Nolan Ryan's fastball speed by analyzing his famous 1974 pitch, which clocked at 100.9 mph. Because older radar guns measured velocity near the plate rather than right out of the hand, physicists estimate his true release speed was likely around 108 mph

BS. They are clocking pitches 3 feet from release point now. 12 years ago they were clocking pitches 6 feet in front of the plate. Just add 8.7 mph to every pitch clocked pre 2014 for a real comparison due to velocity lost over distance traveled.

4-5 mph. Definitely not 8.7. This dude is the best pitcher in the game rn and he's on a historic run.
