The Seattle Seahawks announced Monday afternoon that they have signed LSU track standout Cyril Grayson.

Grayson, who played high school football at Rummel in Metairie, LA, participated in LSU's Pro Day last week and ran a 4.35 40-yard dash. Per Seahawks.com:

And despite having not played college football, Grayson impressed talent evaluators to the point that the Seahawks signed the 23-year-old after bringing him to Seattle for a visit. Because Grayson is a fifth-year senior and did not play football, he was eligible to be signed immediately instead of going through the draft.

Grayson, who was measured at 5-foot-9, 178 pounds, worked out as a receiver at LSU’s pro day and displayed hands and route-running ability that showed he is more than just a speedster. As a senior at Rummel, Grayson had 28 receptions for 731 yards and eight touchdowns. According to results posted on LSU’s website, Grayson was clocked at 4.33 seconds in the 40-yard dash, posted a 10-foot, 7-inch broad jump, and a 34.5-inch vertical leap.

Because there's better WR's and DB's on LSU's roster than some random guy with speed.

I've known this dude since we were young, and I couldn't be happier for anyone in my life. He always wanted to play in the NFL, and I am happy he is fulfilling his dream. I know he will do big things. Proud of that man.

Why would he of always wanted to play in the NFL but not play college ball?

Probably smart in the long run to stick with track, didn't have to get abused with contact and obviously had a very successful track career.

An NCAA rule prevented him from trying to join his freshman year. He could have done it his junior year, but at that point, he was fully dedicated to track.
